Primary Years Programme

The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for children aged 3 - 12 nurtures and develops young students as caring, active participants in a lifelong journey of learning.

Through its inquiry-led, transdisciplinary framework, the PYP challenges students to think for themselves and take responsibility for their learning as they explore local and global issues and opportunities in real-life contexts. Click the link to learn about the IBO Program.

How is the IB PYP approach to learning different from the traditional learning approach?

In a world of rapid change and globalization, the IB PYP approach to learning prepares our students to be responsible global citizens that collaborate and critically think. Students take charge of their own learning, with each child working on their own personalized learning goals. The traditional model of teaching is is when a teacher uses direct instruction with little differentiation to teach a new skill and concept. This is usually done through memorization and recitation techniques.
