Autism Awareness at David Paterson

Autism Awareness at David Paterson

Throughout the month of April, scholars at David Paterson Elementary School came together to celebrate Autism Acceptance Month by demonstrating kindness, inclusion, and acceptance in meaningful ways.

Students and staff proudly wore red—symbolizing love, strength, support, and the vibrant energy that reflects the many strengths of autistic individuals. Our scholars also expressed their creativity by painting "ROCKS FOR AUTISM" and placing them beneath our flagpole, creating a powerful display of kindness, community, and positivity for all to see.

As a highlight of our celebration, students enjoyed a joyful bubble party—a sensory-rich experience that went beyond fun. It served as a reminder of the importance of inclusion, the beauty of individuality, and the unique strengths each person brings to our school community.

As we continue this important work, on Thursday, April 30th, we will wear BLUE—symbolizing calmness, peace, understanding, and acceptance for individuals on the autism spectrum.

At David Paterson, we celebrate not just awareness—but true acceptance, every day.
